Reddit’s 2020 policy on hate speech, preventing criticisms based on identity, has allowed a propagation of underground estrogen distribution for transgender DIY-ers. These men seek out various states of “feminization” – with many of the accounts reading like a Frankenstein’s experiment on their male bodies – all of them having a sincerely held belief in their gendered souls.
Several of Reddit’s subreddits – most notably /r/TransDIY – give these men the ability to share links to “Do-It-Yourself” websites that offer a variety of hormones at high strength and large quantities for cheap.
They distribute websites like RuPills, Aphrodites, and most egregiously Otokonoko Pharmaceuticals, with a storefront slathered in illustrations of little girls. Their packaging is also covered in half-naked, prepubescent anime girls:
As it stands on Reddit, transgender identity is sacrosanct. But this policy has enabled not only estrogen distribution but easy access of hormones to underage males. As noted in /r/TransDIY’s subreddit rules – Rule #3 on their main page – they discourage users from mentioning their age to prevent them from getting banned, while simultaneously allowing discussion of best hormones to use during puberty.
They even share fun, child-friendly guides on adjusting your body to fit your transfeminine soul for users like this, claiming to be sixteen years old.
Any one of these males could claim to have a feminine soul, allowing them access to female bathrooms, sports, domestic violence shelters, scholarships – and so on. With access this convenient, subjugation of women and medicalization of children is just a PayPal transaction away.
