Do lockdowns and facemasks work to prevent the spread of COVID-19? It’s another issue that many experts in the field have been completely divided on during this pandemic, but you might not know it if your only source of information was mainstream media and government health agencies. The COVID pandemic unleashed an unprecedented amount of censorship of scientists, doctors and journalist who presented science, information, data and evidence that called into question the “official” narrative that has been beamed out to the masses despite the fact that lockdowns caused and will cause an unprecedented amount of harm in multiple ways. They may not have been an effective strategy to stop the spread of the virus. This type of perspective and the evidence backing it has been deemed a “conspiracy theory”, especially by social media “fact-checkers.” Lockdowns may have already killed more people than COVID.
The same goes for masks. Despite the fact that a number of studies point to the idea that they are completely ineffective and may create harmful physiological and psychological changes if one has to wear them for an extended period of time, a public discussion about this has not been allowed to happen.

In fact, an email that was revealed through a FOIA request shows Tony Fauci held the same thoughts about facemasks early on in the pandemic until he began to change his tune. Fauci responded to an email received on Feb. 4, 2020 from Sylvia Burwell, a former secretary of Health and Human Services under Barack Obama and the current president of American University in Washington DC, asking whether wearing facemasks is necessary during her travels.
Fauci responded the next day stating:
“Sylvia, Masks are really for infected people to prevent them from spreading infection to people who are not infected rather than protecting uninfected people from acquiring infection. The typical mask you buy in the drug store is not really effective in keeping out virus, which is small enough to pass through material. It might, however, provide some slight benefit in keep out gross droplets if someone coughs or sneezes on you. I do not recommend that you wear a mask, particularly since you are going to a very low risk location. Your instincts are correct, money is best spent on medical countermeasures such as diagnostics and vaccines.” (source)
Yes, there is information that suggests lockdowns and wearing masks was and is effective as well, but that’s not the point. It is important to get to the bottom of this and figure out what is correct and incorrect, but more importantly, one side was completely shut out of the conversation and debate was not allowed to happen. How can we find out what was right or wrong when we are not even allowed to talk about it? This type of censorship alone has been a large catalyst for people to really question what’s going on here.
For example, Dr. Carl Heneghan a professor of evidence based medicine and director of their Centre for Evidence-Based medicine had an article he published about the effectiveness of facemasks labelled as “false news.” Dr. Martin Kulldorff, a Harvard medical professor has had the same treatment. Twitter recently blocked his account and he is currently not able to post. These are two out of hundreds of examples from around the world.
Dr. Sunetra Gupta is another one, she’s considered to be one of the world’s eminent infectious disease experts. She’s a professor at Oxford University and has been quite outspoken about the harms of lockdowns, mask mandates, and the need to push vaccines on the entire population when that push does not match up with the science. She’s an advocate of a more focused protection approach, and one of the founding members of The Great Barrington Declaration.
In a recent interview with talkRADIO, she explains how there was a religious like belief that lockdowns and facemasks actually work. Again, it doesn’t matter if they do or don’t. That’s not the point here. The point is that any information that says otherwise has not been given a fair chance. People who rely on mainstream media seem to be completely unaware that there is another side of the coin to this story.
