There has been no recent example of how absolutely batshit hysterical the media gets and how eager its useful idiots are to parrot the “official” narrative on Covid than the recent coverage of Joe Rogan taking ivermectin.
Before we even go down this road, let’s get some housekeeping out of the way and stipulate some things so it’s clear that I am capable of acknowledging, and have acknowledged, many of the skeptical arguments against ivermectin. Here are some factual arguments that I concede immediately:
- Ivermectin has no recent robust randomized clinically controlled data showing benefits in Covid, but trials are ongoing.
- In addition to being dosed billions of times in humans, ivermectin has also been dosed and prescribed differently, when used as a veterinary drug.
- There are idiots who take too much ivermectin and overdose, and there are idiots who take the veterinary version and believe it is a miracle cure. This is thoughtless behavior by morons who deserve the consequences.
- Most positive experiences with ivermectin have been anecdotal stories or non-peer reviewed writeups.
- A meta analysis that was touted early on to show ivermectin’s efficacy in treating Covid has been invalidated due to questions about one of the studies that make up its components.
With those things being said, here are some other facts that pro-ivermectin advocates point out:
- Ivermectin’s safety in humans is unquestionable when dosed properly.
- Ivermectin, dosed properly for humans, is proven as an anti-parasitic and “has had an immeasurably beneficial impact in improving the lives and welfare of billions of people throughout the world.”
- While true that it was initially a veterinary drug, it then “proved to be even more of a ‘Wonder drug’ in human health, improving the nutrition, general health and wellbeing of billions of people worldwide ever since it was first used to treat Onchocerciasis in humans in 1988. It proved ideal in many ways, being highly effective and broad-spectrum, safe, well tolerated and could be easily administered (a single, annual oral dose).”
- Ivermectin’s use in humans led to a Nobel Prize in Physiology being awarded in 2015. From the Nobel Prize official website: “William C. Campbell and Satoshi Ōmura discovered a new drug, Avermectin, the derivatives of which have radically lowered the incidence of River Blindness and Lymphatic Filariasis, as well as showing efficacy against an expanding number of other parasitic diseases. Tu Youyou discovered Artemisinin, a drug that has significantly reduced the mortality rates for patients suffering from Malaria.”
- Ivermectin is on the World Health Organization’s list of essential medicines (yes, for humans).
As I said to Larry Lepard on my most recent podcast, it’s odd that that the media’s sense of urgency to freak out about something was literally nowhere to be seen when we needed it most: at the beginning of the pandemic when we didn’t have a damn clue as to what was going on.
Instead, we got a maskless Nancy Pelosi touring through Chinatown in February 2020, encouraging people to congregate around people coming off of planes from China:
By now, most readers are aware of how the media handled the Rogan coverage. Here’s some of the most egregious examples of nefarious media behavior…(you can read the rest of this article at QTR’s “Fringe Finance” by clicking here).
